Hi, I'm Daniella! I'm a former teacher and instructional coach with over ten years of experience working with multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and also teaching college-level courses. I also have over six years of experience working with adult learners and leading professional development.
I am passionate about teaching others and have technical experience with adolescent and adult learning theories as well as practical experience from my teaching and educational leadership at the school level. I was responsible for the professional development of 150-200 adults as the professional development lead at my school. While I imagined that I would be working for a school district or doing educational consulting, I find that my path has changed once I became a mom to my two kids.
I'm big on educational research as well as any learning that I can do to support my neurodiverse family. I currently do freelance work through consultations and writing curriculum while I homeschool and manage pediatric therapies at home. For the past two years, I've been a board member with New Schools Venture Fund for Learning Differences and worked to fund $3.9 million for twenty innovations that benefit disabled children and those with learning differences.
Let's work together for a more inclusive world for all.
I'm a mom to two amazing children, one of whom was diagnosed with autism at 27 months old. He changed everything for me and made me realize that the parenting paradigm I was operating from wouldn't work for his beautiful and unique brain.
I also realized how much our world isn't built for him and how he is constantly viewed from a deficit perspective instead of the amazing person that he is. While at first navigating an unknown diagnosis was scary, we were lucky to be introduced to great therapists who taught us about child-led approaches like DIR Floortime and eventually Montessori at home.
My son deserves to be accepted for who he is. He deserves to live in a world that truly includes him and all of his needs. A world where he isn't questioned for what he needs to do to feel good and regulate his senses.
He is my why. I want to change the world for him and kids like him. I want to support parents who wish to move away from the traditional parenting paradigm for parenting a neurodivergent child.
